Add Page Numbers to PDF
Number the pages of any PDF in seconds. Choose where the numbers go, how they look and which pages get them.
How to add page numbers to a PDF
Set up the numbering and download the result.
- Upload your PDF
- Pick a position: top, middle or bottom, and left, center or right
- Choose a pattern such as 1 or 1 / 10, or create your own
- Adjust font, size, color, opacity and margins
- Click Add Page Numbers and download
Custom numbering patterns
Use a Custom Pattern to write numbers exactly as you want them. Type {p} for the current page and {n} for the total pages, for example "Page {p} of {n}".
You can also set the first number, so a document can start at 5 if it follows an earlier part, and choose the first and last page to number.
What you can use it for
Page numbers make long documents easier to read, print and reference.
- Theses, reports and manuals
- Legal documents and contracts
- Merged PDFs that need continuous numbering
- Printed handouts and booklets
Tips
Skip the cover page by setting the first page to 2. If you are combining files, merge them first and add page numbers last so the numbering runs continuously.
