Sign PDF: Add Signatures, Text, and Dates to Any PDF — Without Printing
Signing a PDF shouldn't mean printing it, scribbling on it, and scanning it back. Sign PDF in PDF Translator Pro lets you draw your signature directly in the browser, place it exactly where it needs to go, and download a finished PDF — all without leaving the app.
Sign PDF goes beyond a basic signature stamp. You can place multiple signatures across different pages, add freeform text, insert auto-formatted dates, and fine-tune the position, size, and rotation of every element. Your signatures are saved to your account so you don't have to redraw them every time.
Signing Your First Document
The whole process takes a few steps:
- Open PDF Translator Pro and navigate to Sign PDF from the main menu.
- Upload your PDF by clicking the upload zone or dragging the file onto it.
- Draw your signature using the drawing canvas, or scan the QR code to draw on your phone and have it appear on desktop automatically.
- Drag your signature from the panel onto the page — position, resize, and rotate it as needed.
- Add any text fields or date stamps if required.
- Click Sign PDF to process the document. The signed PDF is ready to download in seconds.
Drawing Your Signature
When you open the signature drawing dialog, you get a canvas to draw on with your mouse or finger. Three ink colours are available — black, blue, and red — so you can match whatever convention the document calls for.
On desktop, you draw directly on the canvas. On mobile, the experience is adapted: if you're working on a desktop and want to use your phone for the actual drawing, click Sign on Mobile. A QR code appears on screen. Scan it, draw your signature on your phone, and it transfers back to the desktop automatically within seconds. This is particularly useful when a touchscreen makes drawing more natural than a mouse.
Once you're happy with the result, save the signature to your library. It stays there across sessions so you can reuse it without redrawing.
Your Signature Library
Every signature you save appears in the panel on the right. From there you can:
- Place a signature by dragging it onto any page in the document.
- Edit a saved signature to redraw it — useful if your signature has changed or you want a cleaner version.
- Delete a signature from your library. If that signature is already placed somewhere in the document, the app warns you before removing it.
You can place the same signature multiple times across different pages — each instance is independent and can be positioned and resized separately.
Adding Text and Dates
Signatures are often not enough on their own. Many documents require a printed name, a title, or a date alongside the signature.
Text fields let you type anything directly onto the page. Double-click a placed text field to edit it inline. You can change the font size, toggle bold, and pick a colour — the same black, blue, and red options available for signatures. Drag the top or bottom handle to resize, which adjusts the font size proportionally.
Date stamps are pre-filled with today's date when placed. You can change the date using the calendar picker, and you can choose from several date formats — dd/mm/yyyy, mm/dd/yyyy, and others — with a live preview shown so you see exactly how it will appear in the document.
Positioning and Adjusting Elements
Every element you place — signature, text, or date — can be moved, resized, and rotated freely.
- Move by dragging the element to any position on the page, including across page boundaries to a different page.
- Resize signatures using any of the eight handles around the bounding box. Aspect ratio is maintained automatically. Text and date fields resize vertically, scaling the font size.
- Rotate a signature by dragging the rotation handle below it.
- Select multiple elements by holding Shift and clicking. All selected items move together, making it easy to reposition a group.
- Clone any element by holding Alt while dragging it — useful when you need to place the same signature on several pages quickly.
- Delete a selected element with the Delete or Backspace key.
Cost
Signing a PDF costs 2 credits regardless of the number of pages or elements placed. The cost and your current balance are shown in the panel before you confirm, so you always know where you stand. If your balance is insufficient, the app takes you directly to the packages page.
Tips for Best Results
- Use your phone for the signature. Drawing with a finger on a touchscreen produces a more natural result than drawing with a mouse. The QR code flow takes seconds and the quality difference is noticeable.
- Save your signature once, reuse it everywhere. The library persists across sessions. Draw a clean version once and you won't need to redraw it for any future document.
- Use Alt+drag to duplicate across pages. If a document requires the same signature on multiple pages — initials on every page, for example — clone the first instance rather than dragging from the panel each time.
- Match ink colour to the document convention. Legal and financial documents often specify blue ink for wet signatures. Pick the matching colour in the drawing dialog before you start.
- Place text fields for printed names and titles. Many agreements require both a handwritten signature and a printed name beneath it. Add a text field directly below the signature placement.
