Scan to PDF: Convert Photos and Images to PDF Online

PDF Translator Pro - Scanner feature

Printed documents, handwritten notes, whiteboards, receipts — anything you can photograph can become a searchable, shareable PDF. Scanner in PDF Translator Pro lets you combine photos taken with your camera or images from your device into a single PDF document in seconds.

Whether you need to digitize a signed contract, archive a handwritten page, or turn a stack of photos into a multi-page PDF document, Scanner handles the whole process in one place — capture, arrange, and convert.

How to Convert Images to PDF

The process takes under a minute:

  1. Open PDF Translator Pro and navigate to Scanner from the main menu.
  2. Choose how to add your images:
    • Click Take Photo to open your camera and capture a document directly. An A4 guide overlay helps you frame the page correctly.
    • Click Choose Images to select one or more image files (PNG, JPG, and other formats) from your device.
  3. Review your images in the timeline at the right. You can drag to reorder pages, remove any image you don't want, or add more photos and files at any time.
  4. Optionally, click the output filename at the top of the preview panel to rename the PDF before converting.
  5. Check the Cost and Balance displayed in the action panel — each image costs 1 credit.
  6. Click Create PDF. Your images are combined into a PDF on the server and the download dialog appears when the file is ready.

Adding Images

Two methods are available to get images into the scanner:

  • Camera capture — click Take Photo to open the camera. An A4-proportioned guide with corner markers is overlaid on the viewfinder so you can align the document before shooting. On mobile the camera opens full-screen; on desktop it opens as a modal. Each photo is added to your image timeline immediately after capture.
  • File upload — click Choose Images to open the file picker and select one or more image files at once. Only image files are accepted; other file types are filtered out automatically.

You can mix both methods — take some photos with the camera and add scanned image files alongside them. Use the + buttons in the image timeline to add more images at any point before converting.

Arranging Pages

Once images are added, they appear in the timeline as numbered page cards. You can:

  • Reorder pages — drag and drop cards on desktop, or touch and drag on mobile, to set the page order before converting.
  • Remove a page — click the remove button on any card to delete that image from the set.
  • Add more images — use the add buttons in the timeline to include additional files or camera captures without starting over.

The left panel updates as a live preview showing how your pages will look in the final PDF.

Output File

The converted document is saved as scanned.pdf by default. To use a different name, click the filename shown at the top of the preview panel — a rename dialog opens where you can type any name you prefer. Rename before clicking Create PDF; the filename cannot be changed after processing starts.

Cost

Converting images to PDF costs 1 credit per image. The total cost and your current credit balance are both shown in the action panel before you confirm, so there are no surprises. If your balance is insufficient, the exact shortfall is shown and the app takes you to the packages page to top up.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use the A4 guide when photographing documents. Align the edges of the page with the corner markers in the camera overlay before capturing — this produces cleaner, better-proportioned pages in the PDF.
  • Shoot in good lighting. Flat, even lighting without shadows gives the clearest result. Avoid shooting at an angle where one side of the document is darker than the other.
  • Check page order before converting. Drag pages into the correct sequence in the timeline before clicking Create PDF — reordering after conversion requires starting a new scan.
  • Rename the file before converting. The default name scanned.pdf is not descriptive if you are building an archive of multiple documents. Set a meaningful name in the rename dialog before processing starts.
  • Combine with Translate PDF for foreign-language documents. Scan a printed document to PDF first, then use Translate PDF to translate it into your language — a clean workflow for physical foreign-language text.

Also Available on the Mobile App

Scanner is also available in the PDF Translator Pro mobile app. On your phone or tablet you can photograph documents with the built-in camera, arrange pages, and generate a PDF — all from the app. The same credit balance applies across both platforms, so credits purchased on one carry over to the other. Part of the PDF Translator Pro Suite

Scanner shares the same account and credit balance as Translate PDF, Merge PDF, Split PDF, Compress PDF, Fill Out PDF, Protect PDF, Web to PDF, and File Share. Scan a document, translate it, and share it — all from the same platform without switching tools.

To get started, open Scanner from the main menu and add your first image.
