Fill Out PDF: Complete, Annotate, and Sign Any PDF Form in Your Browser

PDF Translator Pro - Fill Out PDF feature

PDF forms were designed to be filled in — but without the right tool, that still means printing, writing by hand, and scanning. Fill Out PDF in PDF Translator Pro lets you type into any PDF directly in your browser, add signatures, insert images, tick checkboxes, draw freely, and download a clean finished document. No software to install.

Fill Out PDF handles more than just form fields. Whether the PDF has no interactive fields at all or you need to annotate an existing document, you can place text anywhere on the page, add signatures, stamp dates, draw shapes, upload images, and sketch with a freehand brush. Every element is freely positioned and adjustable.

Filling Out Your First Document

The process is straightforward:

  1. Open PDF Translator Pro and navigate to Fill Out PDF from the main menu.
  2. Upload your PDF by clicking the upload zone or dragging the file onto it.
  3. Use the panel on the right to select the type of element you want to add — text, signature, date, image, shape, or brush.
  4. Drag the element onto the page, or tap the page on mobile to place it.
  5. Position, resize, and adjust each element until the document looks right.
  6. Click Fill Out PDF to process. Download the finished document in seconds.

Text Fields and Dates

Text fields let you type anything directly onto any part of the page. Click a placed text field to edit its content, font size, weight, and colour. Drag the top or bottom handle to resize, which scales the font size proportionally. The same three colours are available throughout — black, blue, and red.

Date stamps auto-populate with today's date when placed. You can change the date with the calendar picker and choose from multiple date formats — dd/mm/yyyy, mm/dd/yyyy, and custom patterns — with a live preview so you see the exact output before committing.

Signatures and Initials

Draw your signature on the canvas using your mouse or finger. If you're on desktop and prefer a more natural result, click Sign on Mobile: a QR code appears, you scan it with your phone, draw on the touchscreen, and the signature transfers to the desktop automatically within seconds.

Saved signatures go into your library, which persists across sessions and documents. Drag any saved signature onto the page, resize it using the eight handles around the bounding box, and rotate it with the handle below. The same signature can be placed multiple times — each instance is independent.

Shapes and Checkboxes

For forms with checkboxes, tick boxes, or fields that need marking, the Shapes tab provides a set of ready-to-use presets:

  • Tick — a checkmark for yes/selected fields.
  • Cross — an X mark for no/rejected fields.
  • Dot — a filled circle for radio-style selections.
  • Circle — an outline circle.
  • Checkbox — an empty checkbox with a check inside.

Beyond presets, you can draw custom lines and rectangles directly on the page. All shapes support colour, opacity, and stroke thickness adjustments. Rectangles and lines can also be rotated.

Adding Images

Upload any PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP image and place it on the page. Logos, stamps, photographs, or any visual asset can be positioned freely, resized with aspect ratio maintained, and rotated. Multiple images can appear on the same page or across different pages.

Freehand Drawing

The Brush tool lets you draw anything directly on the page — annotations, arrows, highlights, corrections. Adjust the brush size, colour, and opacity before drawing. Each stroke is captured as an image and placed on the page, where it can be moved, resized, or deleted like any other element.

Positioning and Editing Elements

Every element — regardless of type — supports the same set of controls:

  • Move by dragging to any position on the page, including to a different page.
  • Resize using the handles around the bounding box. Signatures and images maintain aspect ratio; text and date fields scale the font size.
  • Rotate signatures, images, and drawn shapes by dragging the rotation handle.
  • Multi-select by drawing a selection box or Ctrl/Cmd-clicking. Move and recolour all selected items at once.
  • Clone any element with Alt+drag — useful for repeating the same mark across multiple pages.
  • Delete with the Delete or Backspace key.

Cost

Filling out a PDF costs 2 credits. If the document includes signatures, the cost is 3 credits. The exact cost and your current balance are shown in the panel before you confirm, so there are no surprises. If your balance is insufficient, the app takes you to the packages page.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use text fields for any blank line in the form. Most scanned forms have no interactive fields — just place a text element at each line and type directly over it.
  • Use shapes for pre-printed checkboxes. Drag a Tick or Cross preset onto the box — no need to draw one from scratch. Resize to match the box size.
  • Draw your signature on mobile for a natural result. The QR code handoff takes seconds and a touchscreen signature looks far more authentic than a mouse-drawn one.
  • Use Alt+drag to repeat elements across pages. If you need the same initials or stamp on every page, clone the first instance rather than placing it again from the panel.
  • Adjust opacity for watermarks and stamps. If you're placing a logo or stamp over content, reduce opacity so the underlying text remains readable.
